Applying Ethics in Social Work Practice
This course is approved for 3 Ethics CEs for KY Social Work. CE Sponsor Approved Provider for Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Board.
This course will review the NASW Code of Ethics and help therapists understand how to incorporate ethics into everyday Social Work practice. Participants will review the 2021 updates made to the NASW Code of Ethics related to cultural competence and self-care. Through videos, reflection and practice scenarios, participants will identify ways to improve their cultural competence, implement a well rounded self-care routine and use ethical problem-solving to determine an appropriate course of action in ethical dilemmas. This course also reviews the use of technology in social work practice and discusses ways to ensure ethical and appropriate use of technology. Participants who complete this course will be able to:
- Review the NASW Code of Ethics and learn the basics of Ethical Principles and Ethical Standards
- Review the NASW Code of Ethics Cultural Competence revisions introduced in 2021 - Understand how to use ethics in their problem-solving and decision-making related to Social Work
- Evaluate the role of professional self-care as it relates to ethical Social Work practice and identify how to incorporate self-care into consistent practice
- Explore how the use of technology impacts Social Work ethics and identify potential ethical issues with using of technology in providing Social Work services
