Applying Trauma-Focused Care in Your Systemic Practice: Collaborative Strategies for Healing
This course is approved for 3 CEs for KY MFT, KY LPC and KY SW. CE Sponsor Approved Provider for Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Board.
National statistics indicate that approximately two-thirds of adults report experiencing at least one adverse childhood experience (ACE) and twenty-five percent, or one in four, report experiencing at least 4 or more ACEs in their lifetime. Trauma is heterogeneous and cuts across a multitude of populations and presenting problems (Abrams & Shapiro, 2014). As such, regardless of a clinician’s specialization or area of practice, systemic therapists will encounter clients with trauma histories. This three-hour workshop will help therapists explore the fundamental concepts of trauma-informed care, while understanding the connection between trauma and its impact on client well-being. Additionally, this workshop will assist therapists in understanding and applying systemic interventions for individuals, couples, and families from a trauma-focused care perspective.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
