Overview

Many therapists feel inadequate to work with individuals diagnosed with autism and their families. Additionally, many families report difficulty finding a therapist who understands their experiences. This 3 hour course will go over the diagnosis of autism and the role of therapist in the diagnosis process. In addition, the viewer will learn how to establish a therapeutic environment for the individual diagnosed with autism and best practices for therapy. This course will address the systemic impact of autism and explore treatment options for each subsystem. 

Participants who complete this course will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the autism diagnosis and the role of therapist  
  • Be able to describe best practices in autism treatment.
  • Be able to integrate the experiences of families with a child diagnosed with autism into their conceptualization and treatment planning. 
  • Be able to evaluate the best practices in systemic treatment of autism.
