Leaders are widely encouraged to learn from their failures, but it is something most find easier to espouse than to achieve. This workshop synthesizes research and applications for overcoming failure relevant for all emerging systemic therapist leaders, both in and outside of the therapy room. The presentation outlines constraints to both identifying and analyzing failure, before making commendations for action. Participants will develop action skills and feedback techniques that may be implemented as an integrated set of practices by leaders who can 'walk the talk' and work to shift their mindset in a way that redefines failure away from its discreditable associations and view it instead as a critical first step in a journey of discovery and learning. Participants who complete this course will be able to: 

- Critically analyze my past professional failures, both inside and outside of the therapy room. 

- Implement feedback assessments (both formal and informal) to get perspectives from other credible sources on your failures. 

- Learn 3 skills to reframe failure as a necessary step in the journey of discovery and learning. 

- “Tear & repair” relationships that are vital to both rebuilding after failure and the leadership development process.
