Overview

Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma is a leading cause of child death nationwide with Kentucky consistently topping the list for child maltreatment. This 1.5 hour training will provide participants with an overview of PAHT, including defining PAHT and identifying risk factors. Prevention of PAHT will be highlighted by discussing the importance of social workers and their role in intervention. 

Participants who complete this course will be able to: 

  • Define and describe pediatric abusive head trauma. 
  • Review statistics related to abusive head trauma. 
  • Identify risk factors of abusive head trauma. 
  • Describe the role of the social worker in education and prevention of abusive head trauma.
