This course is approved for 3 CEs for KY MFT, KY SW, and KY LPC. CE Sponsor Approved Provider for Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Board
This CE course will help mental health clinicians gain an understanding about Structural Family Therapy (SFT) and how it provides a road map to assist in conceptualizing how individual problems are maintained by family interactional patterns. This CE course will start off with an overview of the theory and belief system behind the Structural Family Therapy mapping. An assessment model that provides a framework for identifying the barriers that a family is experiencing in reaching their goals is presented. Interventions are presented with clinically relevant examples. AAMFT Training Award Winner, Dr. Eli Karam presents helpful strategies and exercises to build on structural theory. In addition to watching an actual family consultation with the model originator, participants will hear from the current SFT leaders. These colleagues of Salvador Minuchin are interviewed to talk about both the legacy and future of SFT. This new resource is essential viewing for seasoned systemic therapists who want to improve their clinical skills and personal effectiveness, as well as students and professionals just starting their journey into this type of clinical work with Structural Family Therapy.
