Overview

This 2-hour course will explore why Cultural Competence is an essential part of systemic therapy, and how to infuse Cultural Competence into everyday practice. Participants will learn how to address cultural needs through reflection, identifying the latest trends, video clips and case studies.

Participants who complete this course will:

  • Gain an understanding implementing cultural competence in your systemic practice.
  • Gain an understanding of how to apply concepts of Cultural Competence into micro and macro practice through the use of scenarios faced by systemic therapists.
  • Identify the rationale for practicing Cultural Competence through self-reflection and by identifying trends.

Meet the Presenter

Atiya Nathan, Ph.D., LCSW

Dr. Atiya Nathan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and has worked with children, teens, and adults within a variety of settings. She is a proud graduate of the University of Louisville where she earned her B.A. in Communication and an M.S. in Social Work with a School Social Work specialization. She is also a graduate of Regent University where she earned a doctorate in Education with a specialization in Character Education. Dr. Nathan is licensed in Mississippi and Virginia and specializes in anxiety and depression treatment.
